Flying Apron

Since 2000, Flying Apron has conquered the challenges of gluten-free and vegan baking and has created goodies that everyone can crave and enjoy! Lined up along the entryway is an extensive variety of pastries like scones, cinnamon rolls, and donuts that are not only 100% gluten-free, but also vegan! If you don’t have much of a sweet tooth, don’t worry, Flying Apron also has savory options that are just as delicious as the baked goods, like their veggie lasagna, monster pizza, and mac-n-chez. If you like coffee, be sure to grab a cup of their organic and freshly roasted coffee, it makes for a great pick-me-up after a long day of seeing the best of Seattle.

Niche

Just east of Pike Place Market in Seattle’s vibrant First Hill neighborhood you’ll discover Niche, a spectacular café and bakery. Is it all gluten-free, you ask? Yes! Absolutely. Positively everything is gluten-free and scrumptious, if I might add. You cannot go to Niche without devouring one of their paninis or waffle-inis (i.e. a belgian waffle panini). They are to die for! My favorite waffle-ini has to be the nutella ’n banana and the sweet bacon with apple butter. The sweet n’ salty grilled cheese paninis are equally as good. Niche also makes baked goods, like muffins, cookies, and bars, but I prefer the savory items. It goes without saying that Niche is one of the best gluten-free restaurants in Seattle for brunch. You won’t regret a visit here.

I Love My GFF

Seattle’s only gluten-free food cart focuses on one thing, organic quinoa bowls. The entirely gluten-free menu only has three items, their Coco-nuts chocolate chip cookie and two guilt-free quinoa bowls, the Fiesta and Sunshine bowls. Every bowl comes with organic quinoa, spice rubbed organic free-range chicken, organic veggies, and one of their addictive signature sauces! I Love My GFF has one cart in South Lake Union and another that moves around. Check out their website for its whereabouts.

Capitol Cider

Located in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood and just a few blocks from Pike Place Market is one of the best gluten-free spots in Seattle for happy hour or a fun night out! They have hard cider, a 100% gluten-free kitchen, live music, and games… what more can a celiac ask for?! Ranked as one of the best cider bars in the U.S. by USA Today, Capitol Cider offers one of the largest selections of hard cider, with over 20 rotating ciders on tap and 200+ bottled ciders. You’ll easily be spoiled for choice. As for the food, everything is gluten and peanut-free. I recommend the French toast and biscuits and gravy for brunch, and for dinner, the fish and chips or cheese curds. Just a heads up, don’t come hungry because service can be very slow!

Celiac Note: Everything is gluten-free with the exception of the beers!

Ghostfish Brewing Company

A visit to Ghostfish Brewing always reminds me of my gluten-free trip to Portland where I first experienced a 100% gluten-free brewery! This gastropub is easily the best gluten-free restaurant in Seattle for gluten-free beer, fantastic fish and chips, and overall amazing food. Everything at Ghostfish is gluten-free, including the beers! Yes, that means you can enjoy beer flights and try multiple gluten-free beers! Cheers! Whether you choose the cheesy pork belly mac and cheese, perfectly done steak, BBQ jackfruit, or my favorite beer battered fish and chips, you’ll soon realize Ghostfish doesn’t disappoint when it comes to the food either! Among Seattle’s best breweries, Ghostfish is definitely one of my favorite gluten-free spots in Seattle, and once you’ve been there you’ll know exactly why.

Frankie & Jo’s

Capitol Hill has a sweet spot and it goes by the name of Frankie & Jo’s. This popular 100% vegan ice cream shop is where you need to be if you’re after the best gluten-free ice cream in Seattle. The flavors aren’t your typical boring ice cream flavors either. They’re unique, seasonal, and crap-free, which means no gums, no gluten, no soy, no stabilizers, and no refined sugars. Flavors like California Cabin with cardamom shortbread and the Salty Caramel Ash in their crunchy gluten-free waffle cones are must-trys, but whatever you choose, it will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. Did I mention all the crunchy bits in the ice cream, like brownies, shortbread, or cacao nibs are gluten free? Actually, everything at Frankie & Jo’s is 100% gluten-free! Best Gluten-Free Friendly Restaurants in Seattle

Razzi’s Pizzeria

The gem of Greenwood is also a favorite among celiacs in Seattle. What makes Razzi’s a celiac’s paradise is their attentiveness, the certified gluten-free kitchen, the celiac owner, and the extensive gluten-free menu. It’s easily the longest gluten-free menu you’ll find in Seattle, or at any pizzeria if I am being honest. They seriously have whatever you’re craving. Be it the best gluten-free pizza in Seattle, calzones, greek gyros, pasta, paninis, or cheesecakes, the possibilities are truly endless. Did I mention Razzi’s also caters to those who are lactose intolerant and vegan? They even have a dedicated gluten-free vegan menu that’s just as long as the standard menu! When it comes to the best gluten-free restaurant in Seattle for pizza or Italian food, Razzi’s wins every time.

Though not a dedicated gluten-free restaurant, this upscale restaurant knows how to cater to celiacs with their dedicated lunch and dinner gluten-free menus, attentive and knowledgeable staff, and a separate prep area. Although the menu is limited and doesn’t include pizza or bread, they serve fantastic classic Italian dishes accompanied by a great list of wines! The Juicy Cafe

The Juicy Cafe is a great gluten-free friendly spot for juices and lunch. The extensive lunch menu is almost entirely gluten-free, with the exception of the wraps and bread. Double check that the daily specials are gluten-free before ordering. As for the food, it’s fresh, healthy, and fuels the soul. You can opt for one of the seasonal bowls or build your own. Just pick a base like rice or sweet potatoes, then top it with your choice of protein and add-ons like olives or kimchi. Finish it off with one of their delicious, homemade, gluten-free, and vegan dressings. Juicy Cafe is also very allergen and diet-friendly, as they can easily make bowls keto, whole 30, dairy-free, or vegan-friendly. With four locations spread throughout the downtown Seattle area, you’ll never be far from a safe and healthy gluten-free meal!

Uli’s Famous Sausage

There aren’t many gluten-free options at the famous Pike Place Market, but luckily there are gluten-free German sausages. Uli’s famous sausages are free of antibiotics, hormones, and fillers. Almost all of the sausages are gluten-free, with the exception of two, and there is a dedicated fryer for fries. Most of the sides are also gluten-free, just make sure to triple check with the waiter.

Celiac Note: Though the waiter is helpful, cross-contamination is possible even with precautions. I would recommend that celiacs buy the uncooked sausages from the deli and prepare them at their Airbnb rental or hotel to avoid cross-contamination and be on the safe side!

Chaco Canyon

Chaco Canyon is a vegetarian/vegan eatery with many gluten-free options. All of their grain bowls, soups, and salads are gluten-free, and most options that aren’t gluten-free can be made gluten-free. Before ordering be sure to let them know you are a celiac so they can prepare your meal in their separate gluten-free kitchen. Popular favorites are the French toast for breakfast and the hippy grain bowl. Juices, smoothies, and desserts are also available. Just double check that they are safe to consume. Chaco Canyon has two locations, one in West Seattle and another in Greenwood.

Popular favorites are almost always the spreads (without pita bread) and the kebabs. Though considered pricey, Lola is a great place to enjoy breakfast and brunch.

Cinnamon Works

Cinnamon Works is easily one of my go to spots for a gluten-free treat while exploring Pike Place Market. The popular bakery makes a wide variety of gluten-free baked goodies, including their signature gigantic cookie. Their renowned Monster cookies are the size of like 4 cookies, but if you want to indulge in one of those you have to get there early because those bad boys sell out fast! They’re just too good to last on the shelf. Besides the Monster cookies, they also have good cinnamon rolls! As for the precautions taken to avoid cross-contamination, they make, bake, and store all the gluten-free goods separately.

Duke’s Seafood and Chowder

One of the best gluten-free seafood meals you’ll enjoy in Seattle will be at Duke’s. The seafood chain is celiac-friendly and the staff are very attentive when you mention you have celiac disease. From prawn cocktails and wild caught salmon pasta to grass-fed beef burgers and fish tacos, it’s a celiac’s haven as the options are plentiful and the food is amazing. Did I mention they serve gluten-free beer (Ghostfish beer) and all of their clam chowders are gluten-free? I recommend the clam chowder sampler so you can try all of them and not have to choose between all the creamy and flavorful chowders they have.
